The beginning of the Clash of Civilizations…

Most of the serious students and followers of foreign relations have probably read about the Clash of Civilizations by Samuel P. Huntington. For the uninitiated, it is a upcoming clash between hardline Islamic and non-Islamic World that will define the future of the Planet.
It seemed true with Nicolas Sarkozy who called for a ban of Burqa in France, calling it to be a “medium of subversion” of eomen.
Now Europe is ablaze with a different problem. The Swiss government tried to prove itself highly democratic and called for a vote on the issue on banning of Minarets, which was, to the utter astonishment of them, supported by the Swiss people.
Europe has faced the onslaught of Islam since the Crusades. In recent days, the Fatwa on Salman Rushdie, or the uproar on the Danish cartoons of Prophet Mohammad, shook the sensible, non-religious, non-hardliner and free-spirited souls of the average Europeans, who were increasingly with the belief that these “immigrants” to their land can’t intermix with their culture.
In the UK, with Muslims constantly protesting British society, chanting that “Anglian soldiers go to hell”–(but surprisingly not protesting against terrorists who blow up mosques in Afghanistan)–the UK has even created Sharia Law courts for civil cases among Muslims, with the ability to support forced marriage and marital rape, for example.
Now we are seeing a great uproar from the sickening politically correct crowd, deploring the ban. (I am an India, a born Hindu, a practicing non-believer, and trust me I am disgusted with political correctness of the people of our country.)

We have this Muslim writing in the Guardian, Tariq Ramadan, that, “My compatriots’ vote to ban minarets is fuelled by fear.”
As if fear is a bad thing… Fear is the evolutionary trait that keeps us alive. I’d love to be able to go up to Osama bin Laden and spit in his face and show him some cartoons of Muhammad with a bomb strapped to his head, but for some reason I’m not gonna do that.
But anyway, Ramadan goes on, saying, “Across Europe, we must stand up to the flame-fanning populists.”
Why yes, but you also must stand up against terrorists trying to kill cartoonists, some of them even in the United States.
(Just what we need: More religions interjecting themselves into politics.)
Egypt’s Mufti condemns banning minarets in Switzerland
(What a surprise that an Egyptian Muslim would condemn the ban.)
Swiss brace for minaret backlash
(Wow, after those Danish cartoons, who would have thought this would cause a backlash?)
Europe unites to deplore Swiss ban on minarets
(Yeah, take this one up with Sharia Court. Hell, even the Swiss government apparently would like to deplore the ban, but maybe the people see things differently, without an Ivory Tower to retreat to.)
They are saying that it is undemocratic to ban minarets. But what is beyond my comprehension, is that democracy is calculated by the majority of people voting, and in this case, they voted for the ban, so there should not be any problem with that, should there?
In recent days, Europe is fighting a different crusade. Again. In France, Switzerland, in Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands…everywhere.
From someone without an ivory tower: We Already Have Far Too Much Islam in the Netherlands and Europe
Islam a political target in Norway
This is probably the beginning of what could be the defining moment of our life and times…
