No one blames Obama anymore!
Our respected Managing Director of this Blog, who is a keen observer of the developments of Afghanistan, when he gets his rare free time that is, was kinda critical of me, as I have been neglecting Afghanistan, from my posts. I was giving the excuse that even Obama is neglecting Afghanistan…big deal!

But no more…not after the result of Afghan re-election (if you can say the supremely farcical and ludicrous drama to be any kind of a democratic process!) a couple of days back.
Not that it changed anything major though! Afghanistan is still chaotic, it’s government hilariously corrupt, people still have their morning tea everyday, while waiting for the next roadsides I.E.D.s to blast. Soldiers, mostly British and American, die without knowing the reason and awaiting replacement. Technological and backup support never comes from their respective callous governments, while all the Talibans cross border to take shelter in North-West Pakistan.
But that’s not the issue here. The main issue is Hamid Karzai, the Afghan president, who looks like some character of Star Wars I don’t exactly remember, with his suave green-blue shawl, won the re-election without even fighting.
(You may say, Obama also won Nobel peace prize without doing anything–and thats true to some extent–but still!)
His opponent, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah (seriously, we are an unimaginative lot, when it comes to naming things… – Captn Jack Sparrow) who was the most vocal opponent of the Karzai Government did a Sarah Palin act and quit fighting elections.
One may ask, why did he raised all the dirt, when he actually never had the guts to fight? Probably under the influence of Opium, which is a delicacy there. (Managing Director responds that Opium is quite good in China, too–or at least it was before the damn Commies outlawed it.)
I felt that it might not help the democratic process, it might not restore the faith of the people in (the) democratic process.
“It was a hard decision and a painful decision for me, but I did it… I thought that it would be in the best interests of the country if I decide not to participate.” (BBC interview of Dr. Abdullah. (yawn!))

Karzai challenger quits race
“That Chosen One” Barack Hussein Obama, who was supposed to decide on his promised Afghan surge after the election result, is still in a “to be or not to be” mode, will have to decide now on whether to leave a bunch of soldiers in Afghanistan for the rest of his term and maintain the status quo while not doing anything (supporting his peacenic liberal image) … or be a real hero and try and win it.
He better “hope” things go right this time…
