War Watch:

Sumantra Maitra

We posted once on the ongoing wars across the planet, and pledged to continue it with all our goodwill. But due to the tight schedule of our Managing Director, and tighter schedule of your’s truly, it was a one timer.

Not any more. Here we dig it up from the premature grave, and present you a details of the war news across…umm…everywhere. Continue reading

All hail First Granny !!!

Sumantra Maitra

President Pratibha Patil, the youthful 74-year-old head of state of India, made history earlier this week by flying a Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter jet for an unbelievable 40 minute sortie from the Indian Air Force base at Pune, India. By doing this she made history by being a woman, as well as the oldest individual, to have done this feat, which has possibly not been done in the World ever before…

She was on a solidarity tour of the Indian Forces a couple of days before one full year of the Mumbai Terror attacks. In a move much appreciated by the Indian media, our First Granny had to give a tiresome physical test, before getting in the jump-suit for the sortie…

President Patil also pitched hard for women pilots in the defense forces in the press conference afterward, which in India is still a mostly male dominated affair.

Zelaya to Obama: You’re No Abraham Lincoln

Mitchell Blatt

Well, Honduras’ would-be communist dictator, Manuel Zelaya, seems to have figured out what the U.S. media hasn’t. In a recent interview, he said, “[This administration's members] are not true heirs to Lincoln.”

And what a surprise that would be for anyone following the American media:
The Obama-Lincoln Parallel – CBS
Abraham Lincoln’s Lessons for Barack Obama – U.S. News
Obama Looks to Lincoln – Newsweek
A Conversation Between Barack Obama and Abraham Lincoln – Charlie Rose
The Abraham Lincoln Analogy – N.Y. Times
Obama’s Echos of Lincoln – Newsweek
Two Speeches on Race – N.Y. Review of Books
“A Speech Worthy of Abraham Lincoln…” – Chris Matthews
“And Lincoln Came to Life…” – CNN
What can a new president learn from an old one? – U.S. News
Abraham Lincoln/Barack Obama Inaugural Bible – Amazon

That’s how Zelaya repays Obama for all he’s done for him?

In a letter to Obama, Continue reading

Dark tales in America’s backyard…

Ahmadinejad doing diplomacy in South America

A couple of days ago, we reported on World Watch how Hugo Chavez, the man who has basically nothing to do, other than trash talk (when he’s not taking over businesses), was threatening war with Colombia, a key U.S. ally in Latin America, and probably the only non-socialist country in the whole continent.

Now it’s Brazil’s turn, which, also being ruled by a socialist drunkard with a funny name, has invited America’s greatest friend and lover, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, for some coffee and blood of Jews.

Iran, in clean defiance of the West, Israel, and even Russia (!) planned to continue it’s “peaceful” nuclear program, which is peacefully aimed at destroying Israel. Accordingly, sanctions were imposed. Now Iran desperately is searching for some knid of a way out for the revival of it’s economy which is heavily choked.

Guess who is the “messiah” this time? President Lula of Brazil…who is by the way, a passionate and intense admirer of President Obama.

WORLD WATCH: Dithering at home and abroad

Sumantra Maitra
“No one knows what it’s like to be a bad man…to be a sad man…” – The Who/Barack Obama.

* No more nightmares of Tony Blair as the new European Union president anymore, thankfully! Belgium-Britain still for some more mud-slinging though…
Thanks mate…but you can leave now
(Note to Americans who might be confused about Tony Blair: He is a socialist.)

* Russia learns from their time, so they now pass their time by doing totally uncalled for analysis, of how Washington may “lose itself” in Afghanistan, like some high school lover…or whatever that means!
Sideeffects of old Vodka

You know,
dithering has
an artistic
definition, too:

* Once a ditherer, always a ditherer…
To be or not to be, that is still the question…

* Gordon Brown wants you to know that he can dither with the best of them.

* It’s a bad week for Barack Obama…first the drubbing from India and now from time-tested ally Israel

* Journalists, who are supposed to go after news…are sadly news themselves now…
When covering news turns deadly

And, on a special request from our respected Managing Director,

Hillary in Love

Sumantra Maitra

Hillary Clinton, the sprightly young 62-year-old U.S. secretary of state, has now taken the special relation between London and Washington to a different high, by falling for 44-year-old British foreign minister David Milliband.

Apparently, Hillary was all shivers and swoon while talking about her counterpart and is reported to have a crush, just by speaking for 5 minutes on phone. She said that Milliband is vibrant, vital (?), attractive (!!), and smart…

Wow, who knew Obama only visited the military for photo-ops?

Bombs and Dollars

It’s always when he’s on the defense in foreign policy debates that Obama seeks out some military members to pose with.

During the campaign, he played basketball in the Middle East. A few weeks ago, he visited troops, with pressure mounting on him to make an Afghanistan decision.

Well, now he admits that his visits are just for photo-ops:

Obama arrived on the base 3:19 p.m. local time (1 a.m. Eastern Standard Time) and received a rousing welcome from 1,500 troops in camouflage uniforms, many holding cameras or pointing cell phones to snap pictures.

“You guys make a pretty good photo op,” the president said.

Ol’ Latvian (Aunt) President is very enraged!

Sumantra Maitra

To begin with, that’s the most cynical looking head-of-the-state’s photo I have EVER seen!

Latvian Iron Lady (seriously the World media should change this cliched and overused title!) President Vaira Vike-Freiberga, doing a “Rock’s eyebrow rasing act” on tested goofball Tony Blair in the European Union meeting, took on the Human menfolks alone in what can be portrayed as the neo-resurgence of ultra feminist ideology. (Nobel for peace immediately, people!)

Mrs. Aunt was enraged ’cause of the rumor that there are no suitably qualified woman to run the EU. She was, by the way, in her early life a professor of linguistics in Canada, author of 11 books, and winner of 16 honorary doctorates and is fluent in atleast 8 languages…
